Product Overview
Hornady Custom 147-grain XTP is a jacketed hollow point .357 SIG load made for self-defense. The XTP is Hornady's hollow point, and at 147 grains it carries the heaviest bullet in the caliber. It leaves the muzzle at 1,225 fps with 490 ft-lbs.
Zeroed at 25 yards it sits 1.1 inches low at 50. Estimated recoil in a compact pistol is 7.3 ft-lbs, the most of the .357 SIG loads compared.
If you're cross-shopping, Federal Premium HST 125-grain leaves 135 fps faster at 1,360 fps but arrives at 50 yards with 19 ft-lbs less. Hornady's own Critical Duty 135-grain runs the same 1,225 fps with 12 grains less bullet and 40 ft-lbs less at the muzzle. Federal's American Eagle 125-grain FMJ is the practice load in the caliber, at 1,350 fps.
