Product Overview
Hornady Critical Duty 135-grain is a jacketed hollow point .357 SIG load made for personal protection. It uses Hornady's FlexLock bullet, a hollow point built for defensive carry. It leaves the muzzle at 1,225 fps with 450 ft-lbs.
Sighted at 25 yards it sits 1.1 inches low at 50. Estimated recoil in a compact pistol is 6.2 ft-lbs, the least of the .357 SIG loads compared.
If you're cross-shopping, Speer Gold Dot 125-grain leaves 125 fps faster at 1,350 fps on a bonded bullet 10 grains lighter. Hornady's own Custom 147-grain XTP runs the same 1,225 fps with 40 ft-lbs more at the muzzle. Federal's American Eagle 125-grain FMJ is the practice load in the caliber, at 1,350 fps.
