Recoil Calculator Input
Input Field Explanations
Bullet Weight (grains):
The weight of the bullet measured in grains. This information is typically found on ammunition boxes, bullet packaging, or in reloading manuals. Heavier bullets generally produce more recoil.
Bullet Velocity (fps):
The speed of the bullet as it leaves the muzzle, measured in feet per second (fps). Higher velocities typically result in increased recoil. This value can be found on ammunition packaging or measured with a chronograph.
Powder Charge (grains):
The weight of the powder charge in the cartridge, measured in grains. More powder generally produces more recoil. For factory ammunition, this is estimated based on typical load data for the caliber.
Firearm Weight (pounds):
The weight of the firearm in pounds. Heavier firearms absorb more recoil energy, resulting in less felt recoil. This weight should include any accessories mounted on the firearm during shooting.
