Privacy Policy

AmmoSight compares ammunition and firearm prices, runs ballistics calculators, and summarizes hunting laws, gun laws and big-game draw statistics. It is free to use and needs no account. This page says what the site collects while you use it, who else sees any of it, and how to reach us. Questions and requests go to contact@ammosight.com.
What We Collect
- Server logs. Like every website, our host records each request: your IP address, browser and device type, the page asked for, the time, and the page you came from. Logs are kept briefly for operating and securing the site.
- Your shipping state. Prices on the site include shipping to a state. On your first visit we estimate that state from your IP address using a geolocation database that runs on our own server; your address is not sent to anyone for the lookup. If you pick a state yourself, the choice is kept in a cookie so the next page uses it.
- Analytics. We use two analytics services, described below, to see which pages are used and how. They receive page views, the referring site, browser and device type, and an anonymous identifier set in a cookie. They do not receive your name or email, because we never ask for either.
- Reports you send. Draw-odds pages carry a form for reporting a wrong number. We keep what you type and the page it was sent from, nothing more.
- Nothing you buy. AmmoSight sells nothing and takes no payment details. When you click a dealer's price you leave this site; the purchase, and any information you give, is between you and the dealer under that dealer's own policy.

Clearing cookies in your browser resets every identifier above. A content blocker that blocks analytics scripts stops Clarity from loading at all; the site works the same without it.
Analytics Services
Mixpanel receives page views and the technical details listed above, sent from our server. We use it to count visits and see which calibers, states and tools get used. Microsoft Clarity runs in your browser and records how pages are used: clicks, scrolling, mouse movement and the layout on screen, which Microsoft assembles into heatmaps and session replays we can watch. Text you type into form fields is masked before it is recorded. Microsoft describes its own handling of that data in the Microsoft Privacy Statement. Both services act as our processors: they hold the data to provide the service to us and not for their own marketing.
Dealer Links
Prices link to the dealer selling the product. Some of those links are affiliate links, which means the dealer may pay AmmoSight a commission if you buy; the price you pay is the same either way. The dealer's site, and its privacy policy, take over the moment you leave ours. Links to state wildlife agencies and other sources are ordinary links.
Who Sees the Data
We do not sell personal information and do not share it for anyone else's advertising. The companies that see the data above are the ones that run the site for us: our hosting provider, which stores the logs and the database, and the two analytics services. We would disclose information if the law required it.
Your Choices and Rights
You can use the whole site without accepting anything: pick a state and the only cookie that matters is the one holding it. If you live in California or another state with a consumer privacy law, you may ask what information we hold that relates to you, ask us to delete it, and you will not be treated differently for asking. Because we collect no names or emails, a request needs to come with something we can match, such as the anonymous identifier from your cookies or the approximate time of your visits. Children
AmmoSight covers ammunition and firearms and is written for adults. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. There is no way to create an account.
Changes
When this policy changes, the effective date at the top changes with it. A change that affects what is collected or who sees it will also be noted on this page for at least 30 days.
