Product Overview
Speer Gold Dot 125-grain is a bonded hollow point .357 SIG load made for self-defense. Speer plates the copper jacket onto the lead core so the two stay together as the bullet expands. It leaves the muzzle at 1,350 fps with 506 ft-lbs.
With a 25-yard zero it is 0.9 inch low at 50, where it still carries 388 ft-lbs. Estimated recoil in a compact pistol is 6.3 ft-lbs, the same as Winchester USA 125-grain JHP.
If you're cross-shopping, Federal Premium HST 125-grain leaves 10 fps faster with 513 ft-lbs from a bullet whose jacket is not bonded. Hornady Custom 147-grain XTP is the heavy hollow point in the caliber, 125 fps slower at 1,225 fps and still carrying 418 ft-lbs at 50 yards. Federal's American Eagle 125-grain FMJ is the practice load at the same 1,350 fps.
