Montana Elk 101-50

Elk Permit 101-50 — Brow-tined Bull Elk (unlimited quota) in Hunting District 101, rifle only, Sep 5 – Dec 20, 2026. 79% public land, mostly National Forest.

New for 2026

The 2026 draw is the first on record for 101-50: Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks did not offer this hunt code in earlier years, so the year-by-year table has one row and there is no point-creep trend to project yet. The odds shown are that one draw's actual results, not an estimate.

14 first-choice applicants

14 first-choice applicants for 21 tags in 2026, so every first-choice applicant drew and 7 tags went to the leftover draw. The 100% reflects low demand that year, and a code like this can flip the year demand catches up.

All of Hunting District 101 — 195 —

Across every license type in Hunting District 101, Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks counted 195 elk taken in 2025 (hunter counts not published). Montana's figures blend mandatory reporting with a phone and mail survey. FWP does not publish district-level hunter counts for elk or antelope, so success rates are missing for those. About These Numbers

Odds are from the 2026 draw, the latest on file, computed from Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks' published results (computed from the agency's published draw results). They are what happened in that draw, not a forecast. Under five tags a percentage carries a *, because one applicant either way swings it. A dash means the agency did not publish the number, and a date marked expected is last cycle's schedule rolled forward. How we compute these.
