Brass Case • ELD-X
Solved from this product's advertised 3000 fps, 175gr bullet and G1 BC 0.689, with the sight 1.5" over the bore at standard conditions. Compare every zero for 7mm PRC.
How to read it: filled circles are the near and far zero, where the bullet's path crosses the line of sight;the triangle is the peak (max ordinate). The shaded band is the 8" vital zone, ±4" either side of the line of sight. The dashed line marks the edge of the hold-dead-on window. The chart is zoomed to where the zero matters; the tables below run to 500 yards.

Product Overview
Hornady Precision Hunter 175-grain ELD-X is a polymer-tipped 7mm PRC load made for large and medium game. The ELD-X is a lead-core hunting bullet with a polymer tip, shaped to hold speed a long way out. It leaves the muzzle at 3,000 fps with 3,497 ft-lbs and has a G1 BC of .689.
Zeroed at 200 yards, it drops 6.0 inches at 300 and 17.2 inches at 400 yards, where it still carries 2,372 ft-lbs. From a 100-yard zero it drops 22.8 inches at 400 yards. It kicks the same as Nosler's Trophy Grade 175-grain AccuBond LR.
If you're cross-shopping, Federal Premium loads the same ELD-X bullet to the same 3,000 fps, so the two shoot one path. Nosler's Trophy Grade 175-grain AccuBond LR has a G1 BC of .648 and reaches 400 yards with 2,311 ft-lbs.
- Keeps 2,621 ft-lbs at 300 yards
- No other 7mm PRC hunting load has a higher G1 BC, against .646 for Federal's Terminal Ascent 170-grain
- Still moving at 2,470 fps at 400 yards
- A lead core, so it can't be used where lead-free ammunition is required. Hornady's Outfitter 160-grain CX is the copper bullet in the caliber
- About 20 percent more estimated recoil than Hornady's Outfitter 160-grain CX
- Starts 110 fps behind Fiocchi's Hyperformance 150-grain TTSX
