Federal Terminal Ascent 170-grain is a bonded 7mm PRC load made for big game at long range. The lead core is fused to the jacket, the shank behind it is solid copper, and a polymer tip sits on the nose. It leaves the muzzle at 2,950 fps with 3,285 ft-lbs and has a G1 BC of .646.
Zeroed at 200 yards, it drops 6.3 inches at 300 and 18.2 inches at 400 yards, arriving with 2,162 ft-lbs. It kicks less than any of the 175-grain loads in the caliber.
If you're cross-shopping, Nosler's Trophy Grade 175-grain AccuBond LR is another bonded load in the caliber. It starts 50 fps faster on a nearly identical G1 BC of .648. Hornady's Precision Hunter 175-grain ELD-X carries the higher G1 BC of .689 and from a 200-yard zero drops 17.2 inches at 400 yards.
