Fort Scott Munitions markets its 300-grain TUI for hunting, self-defense and match shooting. The bullet, which Fort Scott calls the SCS TUI, is solid copper with no lead core, so it suits hunters who must use a lead-free bullet. It leaves the muzzle at 1,763 fps with 2,071 ft-lbs of energy.
Compared with Federal's Fusion 300-grain TSX, the other all-copper bullet with no lead core, the Fort Scott starts 162 fps slower and carries 398 fewer ft-lbs at the muzzle. In return it kicks less: the Fusion TSX recoils about 8 percent harder in the same rifle. Compared with Remington's 300-grain SJHP, a lead-core hollow point Remington markets for big game, the Fort Scott gives up 137 fps at the muzzle, and the Remington kicks about 7 percent harder.
