Barnes' VOR-TX 300-grain TSX is an all-copper .45-70 load made for big and medium game. The TSX is a copper hollow point with no lead core, grooved along its shank. It leaves the muzzle at 1,925 fps with 2,469 ft-lbs and has a G1 BC of .163.
Zeroed at 100 yards, it drops 14.1 inches at 200 and 52.9 inches at 300. From a 200-yard zero it drops 31.7 inches at 300. It reaches 200 yards with 940 ft-lbs.
If you're cross-shopping, Federal's HammerDown 300-grain Bonded SP starts 75 fps slower on a G1 BC of .29 and from a 100-yard zero it drops 12.0 inches at 200. Fiocchi's 300-grain HPFN carries a G1 BC of .213 and drops 12.7 inches at 200 from that zero.
