The shaded band is the 8" vital zone, ±4" either side of the line of sight. The dashed line marks the edge of the hold-dead-on window. The chart is zoomed to where the zero matters; the tables below run to 500 yards.

Product Overview

For a bonded bullet at full .300 Weatherby speed, Weatherby's Select Plus 180-grain AccuBond is the fastest choice. It loads Nosler's AccuBond, a polymer-tipped hunting bullet with its lead core bonded to the jacket. It leaves the muzzle at 3,250 fps with 4,223 ft-lbs of energy, as fast as any 180-grain load in the caliber.

Compared with Nosler's Trophy Grade 180-grain AccuBond, which uses the same bullet, the Weatherby load starts 75 fps faster and carries 195 ft-lbs more at the muzzle. For a buyer set on the AccuBond bullet, that speed gap is the main thing separating the two loads. Compared with Weatherby's Select Plus 180-grain TTSX, a copper bullet with no lead core, the AccuBond starts 18 fps faster, and in the same rifle the two kick almost the same.

Buy the Weatherby AccuBond if you want a bonded, polymer-tipped bullet and the fastest start of any bonded load in the caliber. Pick Nosler's Trophy Grade 180-grain AccuBond if you want the same bullet with a little less recoil. Pick Weatherby's Select Plus 180-grain TTSX if you want a copper bullet with no lead core. Pick Weatherby's Select 180-grain InterLock if a plain soft point will do; it starts just 10 fps slower. If recoil matters most, Remington's Core-Lokt 180-grain PSP kicks the least of the 180-grain loads.

Strengths
  • Pairs a polymer tip and bonded core with the speed of Weatherby's Select 180-grain InterLock, 3,250 fps against 3,240
  • Leaves the muzzle 130 fps faster than Remington's Core-Lokt 180-grain PSP
  • Carries 48 ft-lbs more at the muzzle than Weatherby's Select Plus 180-grain TTSX
Limitations
  • Kicks about 3 percent more than Nosler's Trophy Grade 180-grain AccuBond in the same rifle
  • Kicks about 5 percent more than Remington's Core-Lokt 180-grain PSP in the same rifle
  • Has a lead core, where Weatherby's Select Plus 180-grain TTSX is copper with no lead core
