Product Overview
Nosler's Match Grade 130-grain RDF is a target and match load, and by the numbers it is the flattest-shooting .260 Remington match load on this site. It uses Nosler's RDF bullet (the name stands for Reduced Drag Factor), a hollow point boat tail match bullet rated at a G1 BC of .615, and it leaves the muzzle at 2,900 fps.
Compared with Hornady's 130-grain ELD Match, the Nosler starts 60 fps faster and keeps its lead all the way out. At 500 yards, a steady 10 mph wind blowing straight across the range pushes the Nosler about 14 inches sideways and the Hornady about 16. Zeroed at 100 yards, the Nosler drops about 46 inches at 500 and the Hornady about 50, and the two kick about the same in the same rifle. Compared with Berger's Match Grade 140-grain Hybrid Target, the Nosler is the lighter bullet but still comes out ahead: the same wind pushes the Berger about 15 inches, it drops about 50 inches at 500, and it kicks about 11 percent harder in the same rifle.
Buy the Nosler if you shoot paper and steel at 400 and 500 yards and want the least wind drift and drop of the .260 match loads, with about the same recoil as the other 130s. Pick Hornady's 130-grain ELD Match if you prefer a polymer-tipped bullet; inside 300 yards the two stay within an inch of each other in the wind. Pick the Berger 140 only if you want a heavier bullet, since it drifts more and kicks harder than the Nosler. For hunting, Nosler's Trophy Grade 130-grain AccuBond is a polymer-tipped bonded bullet that Nosler markets for deer-sized game; it leaves the muzzle 200 fps slower.
