Berger's Match Grade 140-grain Hybrid Target is a target load from Berger's Hybrid Target line, and it carries the heaviest match bullet among the .260 Remington loads on this site. The Hybrid Target is a hollow point match bullet with a boat tail, rated at a G1 BC of .607, and this load starts it at 2,789 fps.

Compared with Berger's own Match Grade 130-grain OTM Tactical, the 140 starts 58 fps slower and kicks about 13 percent harder in the same rifle, but it handles wind a little better. At 500 yards, a steady 10 mph wind blowing straight across the range pushes the 140 about 15 inches sideways and the 130 about 16. Zeroed at 100 yards, the 140 drops about 50 inches at 500 and the 130 about 49. Compared with Nosler's Match Grade 130-grain RDF, the 140 is behind on every count: the Nosler starts 111 fps faster, the same wind pushes it about 14 inches, and it kicks about 10 percent less.

Buy the Berger 140 if you want a heavier match bullet that drifts less than the Hornady and Berger 130s and the extra recoil does not bother you. Berger warns that this round is loaded longer than the industry-standard length and may not feed from a standard-length magazine, so check yours first. Pick the Berger 130-grain OTM Tactical if lighter recoil matters more than an inch of wind at 500 yards. Pick the Nosler RDF if you want the least drift and drop of the .260 match loads. For hunting at the same bullet weight, Remington's Core-Lokt 140-grain PSP is a pointed soft point that Remington markets for big game; it starts 39 fps slower.
