Product Overview
Hornady's 130-grain ELD Match is a target and match load for paper and steel. It uses Hornady's ELD Match bullet, a polymer-tipped match bullet with a boat tail, rated at a G1 BC of .554, and it leaves the muzzle at 2,840 fps. It is one of three 130-grain match loads for the .260 Remington on this site, and all three kick about the same in the same rifle.
Compared with Nosler's Match Grade 130-grain RDF, the Hornady gives up a little at every distance. At 500 yards, a steady 10 mph wind blowing straight across the range pushes the Hornady about 16 inches sideways and the Nosler about 14. Zeroed at 100 yards, the Hornady drops about 50 inches at 500 and the Nosler about 46, since the Nosler starts 60 fps faster and keeps more of its speed. Compared with Berger's Match Grade 130-grain OTM Tactical, the Hornady is close to a twin: the Berger starts 7 fps faster, the same wind pushes it about 16 inches, and it drops about 49 inches at 500.
Buy the Hornady if you want a polymer-tipped match bullet for paper and steel out to 500 yards. Inside 300 yards the three 130s stay within an inch of each other in the wind, so the choice matters little that close. Pick the Nosler RDF if you shoot mostly at 400 and 500 yards, where it drifts and drops the least of the three. Pick the Berger OTM Tactical if you prefer an open-tip match bullet; by the numbers it matches the Hornady. For hunting, Nosler's Trophy Grade 130-grain AccuBond is a polymer-tipped bonded bullet that Nosler markets for deer-sized game; it leaves the muzzle 140 fps slower.
- Kicks about 12 percent less than the Berger Match Grade 140-grain Hybrid Target in the same rifle
- Leaves the muzzle 169 fps faster than the Lapua Scenar 136-grain HPBT
- Drops about 8 inches less than the Lapua Scenar 136-grain HPBT at 500 yards from a 100-yard zero
- The Nosler Match Grade 130-grain RDF drops about 2 inches less at 400 yards from a 100-yard zero
- The Berger Match Grade 140-grain Hybrid Target drifts about an inch less at 500 yards in a 10 mph crosswind
- Lower G1 BC than the Nosler Match Grade 130-grain RDF, .554 against .615
