Remington's UMC 130-grain FMJ is the mildest jacketed load in this set: 800 fps and 185 ft-lbs at the muzzle, and the lowest recoil energy of the five in the same revolver. The power factor is 104, 1 point under the IDPA stock-revolver floor of 105 and 16 under USPSA's 120 revolver-minor floor. It is a standard-pressure load with no +P marking. From a 25-yard zero the bullet sits 3.1 inches low at 50 yards and 20.5 inches low at 100.

Everything else here is faster. Federal American Eagle 130-grain runs 890 fps, 90 fps and 44 ft-lbs ahead, with about 19 percent more recoil energy. PMC Bronze 132-grain at 917 fps has about 29 percent more. Ammo Inc Signature Line 125-grain TMC is 147 fps faster at 947 fps, but its lighter bullet keeps the recoil to about 22 percent more than the Remington. Fiocchi Range Dynamics 130-grain, at 950 fps, is 150 fps ahead and produces about 32 percent more recoil. The Remington sits alone at the bottom.

The case for this load is the 800 fps. A new shooter, a lightweight snub nose, or a long session all get the softest jacketed round in the group, with no +P rating to check. What it does not do is make a floor: 1 point under 105 means it misses IDPA's stock-revolver minimum, which Federal American Eagle 130-grain clears at 116. It is also not a practice stand-in for a +P carry round. Federal Hydra-Shok Deep +P 130-grain carries 49 ft-lbs more at the muzzle with about 21 percent more recoil energy in the same revolver; the American Eagle's recoil is within 2 percent of the Hydra-Shok's, so that is the closer match, and the revolver needs a +P rating before the Hydra-Shok goes in it.
