Fiocchi's Range Dynamics 130-grain FMJ is the hottest standard-pressure ball load in this set. It leaves the muzzle at 950 fps with 260 ft-lbs, for a power factor of 124: 19 over the IDPA stock-revolver floor of 105 and about 4 over USPSA's 120 revolver-minor floor, the only load here that clears 120 with real margin. From a 25-yard zero it is 2.0 inches low at 50 yards and 14.4 inches low at 100, still moving 899 fps at 50 and 856 fps with 212 ft-lbs at 100. It also has the most recoil energy of the four, and there is no +P marking.

PMC Bronze 132-grain is the nearest thing to it: about 3 percent less recoil energy in the same revolver and 0.8 inch more drop at 100 yards. Federal American Eagle 130-grain is 60 fps and 31 ft-lbs behind with about 10 percent less recoil, and it lands 1.8 inches lower at 100 with 18 ft-lbs less. Remington UMC 130-grain is the soft end of the group, 150 fps and 75 ft-lbs behind with about 24 percent less recoil. At 50 yards the Fiocchi, the PMC and the American Eagle are 0.4 inch apart, so the extra speed changes nothing about the hold at revolver distances.

Buy this for USPSA revolver, where the 120 floor rules out most standard-pressure .38 Special, and for any shooter who wants the firmest standard-pressure ball recoil in this set without a +P rating. It is not the right practice match for a +P carry load: Federal Hydra-Shok Deep +P 130-grain produces about 9 percent less recoil energy than this load in the same revolver, so the American Eagle, at 890 fps, is the closer stand-in. A new shooter or a snub-nose owner should start with Remington UMC 130-grain instead.
