A new shooter or someone drilling with a snub nose should start with Winchester USA 130-grain or Remington UMC 130-grain, which have about 18 percent less recoil energy. Anyone carrying a heavy +P such as Speer Lawman +P 158-grain TMJ needs a hotter practice load; that round produces about 47 percent more recoil energy than this one.
