Product Overview
Winchester pitches its Super-X line at all types of hunters and shooters, and its 40-grain JHP is a plain jacketed hollow point for the .22 Magnum: a lead core in a copper jacket, with a hollow nose. It has a G1 BC of .113 and leaves the muzzle at 1,910 fps, as fast as any of the 40-grain rimfire hollow points it is weighed against.
Compared with Remington's 40-grain JHP, the Super-X starts at the same speed, but Remington's G1 BC of .117 holds speed a little better, and by 150 yards the Remington is 16 fps faster. On target that gap is under an inch. At 150 yards, a steady 10 mph wind blowing across the range pushes the Super-X about 13 inches sideways and the Remington about 13. Compared with CCI's Varmint Maxi-Mag 40-grain JHP, the Super-X starts 35 fps faster and is still 20 fps ahead at 100 yards. Zeroed at 100 yards, both drop about 6 inches at 150.
