Armscor's 40-grain JHP is a .22 Magnum rimfire load with a jacketed hollow point bullet: a lead core inside a copper jacket, with an open cavity at the nose. It comes in a brass case and leaves the muzzle at 1,875 fps with 312 ft-lbs of energy. Remington, Fiocchi and CCI each load a 40-grain jacketed hollow point as well, and those are the loads a buyer will weigh it against.
Compared with Remington's 40-grain JHP, the Armscor starts 35 fps slower, 1,875 against 1,910 fps. Remington markets its load for small game. Compared with CCI's Varmint Maxi-Mag 40-grain JHP, the Armscor starts at the same speed, and CCI markets its load for varmints. Fiocchi's 40-grain JHP, which Fiocchi markets for small game and target shooting, starts at the same 1,910 fps as the Remington. At the muzzle, then, the Armscor sits with the CCI rather than with the two faster loads.
