Product Overview
Sig Sauer offers its Elite Performance 107-grain OTM as match ammunition. OTM stands for open tip match, a target bullet with a small hollow at the nose. Sig rates it at a G1 BC of .527, and it leaves the muzzle at 2,950 fps.
Compared with Hornady's 108-grain ELD Match, the Sig gives up a grain of bullet and 10 fps at the muzzle, and very little else. At 500 yards, a steady 10 mph wind blowing across the range pushes both bullets about 16 inches sideways, meaning each lands about that far to one side of the aim point without a correction. Zeroed at 100 yards, the Sig drops about 46 inches at 500 and the Hornady about 45. Compared with the Nosler Match Grade 105-grain, the Sig starts 100 fps slower and drifts more: the same wind pushes the Nosler about 14 inches at 500 yards. The two kick the same in the same rifle.
Buy the Sig if you want a 107-grain match load that stays close to Hornady's 108-grain ELD Match all the way to 500 yards. Pick the 108 if you want Hornady's polymer-tipped bullet and a slightly flatter path. Pick the Nosler Match Grade 105-grain if wind is the harder part of your shooting; it drifts about 2 inches less at 500 yards. Pick the Federal Gold Medal 105-grain Berger Hybrid if you want Federal's competition load, which kicks a little less in the same rifle.
