HSM built this Bear Load for dangerous game encounters. The 430gr round nose flat point exits at 1801 fps and delivers 3098 ft-lbs of energy. The heavy hard-cast bullet will penetrate deeply through muscle, fat, and bone on large animals. Brown bear, moose, and bison are all within its capability.
The flat point design transfers energy quickly and does not deflect off bone as easily as round nose bullets. At nearly an ounce of lead, this bullet carries momentum that lighter bullets cannot match. Hunters and guides in bear country often keep a few of these loaded in the magazine for backup. The load runs fine in modern lever actions like Marlin and Henry rifles.
