Brass Case • ELD-X
Solved from this product's advertised 2860 fps, 212gr bullet and G1 BC 0.663, with the sight 1.5" over the bore at standard conditions. Compare every zero for .300 PRC.
How to read it: filled circles are the near and far zero, where the bullet's path crosses the line of sight;the triangle is the peak (max ordinate). The shaded band is the 8" vital zone, ±4" either side of the line of sight. The dashed line marks the edge of the hold-dead-on window. The chart is zoomed to where the zero matters; the tables below run to 500 yards.
.300 PRC 212gr with a 100-yard zero
Zeroed at 100 yards with a 1.5" sight height, this load touches the line of sight at 100 yards and never rises more than 0.1" above it (effectively a tangent zero), and is -11.6" at 300 and -25.8" at 400 yards.

Product Overview
Hornady Precision Hunter 212-grain ELD-X is a polymer-tipped .300 PRC hunting load made for large and medium game. The ELD-X is Hornady's hunting bullet, lead-cored with a boat tail. It leaves the muzzle at 2,860 fps with 3,850 ft-lbs and has a G1 BC of .663.
Zeroed at 200 yards, it drops 19.4 inches at 400 yards, where it still carries 2,549 ft-lbs. Estimated recoil is below Berger's Elite Hunter 245-grain and above every other .300 PRC hunting load compared.
If you're cross-shopping, Barnes' VOR-TX Long Range 208-grain LRX starts at the same 2,860 fps and drops 19.6 inches at 400 from that zero, on a solid copper bullet with no lead core. Hornady's Outfitter 190-grain CX starts 140 fps faster and drops 18.0 inches at 400 off the same zero.
- Keeps 2,836 ft-lbs at 300 yards
- 70 ft-lbs more muzzle energy than Barnes' VOR-TX Long Range 208-grain LRX
- A higher G1 BC than Hornady's Outfitter 190-grain CX at .575 and Weatherby's Select Plus 180-grain Swift Scirocco at .520
- A lead core, so it can't be used where lead-free ammunition is required. Hornady's Outfitter 190-grain CX and Barnes' VOR-TX Long Range 208-grain LRX are the copper bullets in the caliber
- About 30 percent more estimated recoil than Weatherby's Select Plus 180-grain Swift Scirocco
