Brass Case • Scirocco II
Solved from this product's advertised 3025 fps, 180gr bullet and G1 BC 0.520, with the sight 1.5" over the bore at standard conditions. Compare every zero for .300 PRC.
How to read it: filled circles are the near and far zero, where the bullet's path crosses the line of sight;the triangle is the peak (max ordinate). The shaded band is the 8" vital zone, ±4" either side of the line of sight. The dashed line marks the edge of the hold-dead-on window. The chart is zoomed to where the zero matters; the tables below run to 500 yards.

Product Overview
Weatherby describes its Select Plus 180-grain Swift Scirocco as a load designed for hunting and long-range efficiency. The Scirocco is Swift's polymer-tipped hunting bullet with a bonded core and a boat tail, rated at a G1 BC of .520. It leaves the muzzle at 3,025 fps, faster than any other .300 PRC load on the site, and its light bullet also kicks the least.
Compared with Hornady's Outfitter 190-grain CX, the Weatherby starts 25 fps faster, but the heavier CX bullet is moving faster by 200 yards. At 500 yards, a steady 10 mph wind blowing across the range pushes the Weatherby about 16 inches sideways and the Outfitter about 14. Zeroed at 100 yards, the Weatherby drops about 44 inches at 500, almost the same as the Outfitter, which kicks about 10 percent harder in the same rifle. Compared with Hornady's Precision Hunter 212-grain ELD-X, the Weatherby shoots a little flatter but drifts more: at 500 yards the ELD-X drops about 46 inches from the same zero, and the same wind pushes it about 13. The ELD-X kicks about 30 percent harder.
Buy the Weatherby if light recoil matters most and your shots stay inside about 400 yards, where its speed keeps the path flat and wind has less time to act. Pick the Outfitter if you want a copper bullet with no lead core; Hornady sells the Outfitter line for areas that require lead-free bullets. Pick the Precision Hunter ELD-X, which Hornady markets for large game, if long shots in wind are likely and the extra recoil does not bother you. If wind is the main worry, Berger's Elite Hunter 245-grain drifts the least of the .300 PRC hunting loads on the site, though it kicks about 65 percent harder than the Weatherby.
- Kicks about 20 percent less than Barnes' VOR-TX Long Range 208-grain LRX in the same rifle
- Leaves the muzzle 165 fps faster than Hornady's Precision Hunter 212-grain ELD-X
- Zeroed at 100 yards, it drops about 24 inches at 400, against about 26 for Barnes' VOR-TX Long Range 208-grain LRX
- Carries 1,891 ft-lbs at 500 yards, against 2,285 for Hornady's Precision Hunter 212-grain ELD-X
- At 500 yards, a 10 mph crosswind pushes it about 16 inches, against about 14 for Barnes' VOR-TX Long Range 208-grain LRX
- Hornady's Precision Hunter 212-grain ELD-X is moving faster by 500 yards, 2,203 fps against 2,175, despite its slower start
