Product Overview
Fort Scott Munitions markets its 123-grain TUI for hunting, match shooting and self-defense. It uses Fort Scott's SCS TUI bullet, a solid copper bullet with no lead core, and it leaves the muzzle at 3,026 fps with 2,501 ft-lbs of energy.
Compared with Barnes VOR-TX 120-grain TTSX, a tipped copper bullet that Barnes markets for big and medium game, the Fort Scott load starts 76 fps faster and carries 182 ft-lbs more at the muzzle. The trade is recoil: the TUI kicks about 8 percent harder than the Barnes in the same rifle. Compared with Nosler's Expansion Tip 120-grain E-Tip, another tipped copper bullet, the gap is the same, since the E-Tip also leaves the muzzle at 2,950 fps and kicks the same as the Barnes.
Buy the Fort Scott load if you want more muzzle speed than the 120-grain copper loads from Barnes and Nosler and don't mind a little more recoil. Pick the Barnes VOR-TX TTSX if you want a load its maker names for big and medium game, with about 8 percent less recoil.
