Hornady Superformance Varmint 50-grain V-Max is a polymer-tipped .22-250 Remington load made for varmint shooting. The V-Max carries a lead core and a boat tail under its polymer tip. It leaves the muzzle at 4,000 fps with 1,776 ft-lbs and a G1 BC of .242.
Zero it at 200 yards and it drops 4.3 inches at 300 and 13.5 inches at 400. From a 100-yard zero the drop at 400 is 16.1 inches.
If you're cross-shopping, Remington's Premier AccuTip-V 50-grain shares that G1 BC of .242 but starts 200 fps slower, and from a 200-yard zero it drops 15.2 inches at 400. Remington's UMC 45-grain JHP matches it at 4,000 fps on a G1 BC of .173.
