The 5.7x28mm is a small bottleneck cartridge FN designed for the P90, fielded in 1990, and later the Five-seveN pistol. It fires a .224" bullet of 27 to 40 grains, listed on this page at 1,700 to 1,890 fps, with more speed from carbine-length barrels. Guns now include the Ruger-57, S&W M&P 5.7, KelTec P50, and PS90, all with magazines of 20 rounds or more.
Most loads here are 40gr FMJ or polymer-tip range ammo such as FN SS197SR and Fiocchi Range Dynamics. For defense, the expanding choices are Speer Gold Dot 40gr and FN SS195LF 27gr. The armor-piercing SS190 load is restricted by FN to military and police, so it won't appear here. Listed velocities depend on the test barrel, so expect less from a pistol than from a PS90.

Pros

Cons
