FN Herstal's SS195LF is a lead-free 5.7x28mm load made for target shooting. FN pairs the 27-grain jacketed hollow point, the lightest bullet in the caliber, with a lead-free primer for indoor ranges. It leaves the muzzle at 1,890 fps with 222 ft-lbs.
Zeroed at 25 yards, it is 0.2 inch low at 50 and reaches that distance at 1,599 fps, the flattest path in 5.7x28mm. Its 27 grains also leave the pistol almost nothing to move between shots.
If you're cross-shopping, FN Herstal's own SS197SR 40-grain V-Max carries 268 ft-lbs at the muzzle, 46 more than this load, from a bullet with a lead core. Fiocchi's Hyperformance 35-grain frangible is the other light bullet in the caliber, at 1,700 fps with 225 ft-lbs.
