Product Overview
Fiocchi's Subsonic 62-grain is a subsonic 5.7x28mm load sold for target shooting. The 62-grain full metal jacket is by far the heaviest bullet the caliber is loaded with, and at 1,050 fps it stays under the speed of sound. Muzzle energy is 152 ft-lbs.
Zeroed at 25 yards, it is 1.6 inches low at 50, more than three times the drop of any of the supersonic 40-grain loads, and it arrives there at 1,000 fps with 138 ft-lbs. Across the first dozen yards that difference disappears, which covers most of the shooting a 5.7 pistol does.
If you're cross-shopping, Federal's American Eagle 40-grain is a supersonic practice load in the caliber, 605 fps faster at 1,655 fps with 91 ft-lbs more at the muzzle. FN Herstal's SS197SR 40-grain carries 268 ft-lbs, 116 more than this load, on a bullet 22 grains lighter.
