At 730 fps and 187 ft-lbs, Fiocchi's Range Dynamics 158-grain FMJ is the slowest 158-grain ball load on this site. The power factor of 115 clears the 105 IDPA stock-revolver floor but misses the 120 USPSA revolver-minor floor by 5 points. From a 25-yard zero the bullet is 3.7 inches low at 50 yards, where it is still doing 702 fps, and 24.7 inches low at 100, where it carries 160 ft-lbs. The brass case is reloadable.

Ammo Inc 158 TMC is the nearest match at 750 fps and 197 ft-lbs, 20 fps and 10 ft-lbs ahead, with about 4 percent more recoil energy in the same revolver. Armscor 158 is in a different bracket: 891 fps and 278 ft-lbs, 161 fps and 91 ft-lbs ahead, with about 38 percent more recoil energy, and Speer Lawman +P 158-grain TMJ adds another 9 fps for about 40 percent more recoil than the Fiocchi. The lighter bullets are its real peers on recoil. PMC Bronze 132-grain leaves 187 fps faster at 917 fps with recoil energy within 1 percent of the Fiocchi. Magtech 130-grain FMJ at 800 fps recoils about 22 percent less while carrying 2 fewer ft-lbs.

This is the load for teaching a new shooter on a revolver, for indoor sessions where a soft report matters, or for anyone whose revolver is not rated for +P and who wants the least recoil a 158-grain bullet can give. If you shoot USPSA revolver minor it will not make the 120 floor; Armscor 158 at 141 will, with margin. If you carry a 158-grain hollow point and want practice ammo that feels closer to it, the Hornady 158-grain XTP is 70 fps faster at 800 fps with about 16 percent more recoil energy in the same revolver.
