Ammo Inc's Signature .357 Magnum load pairs a 158-grain jacketed hollow point with a published 1,250 fps, good for 548 ft-lbs at the muzzle. Power factor is 198, over the 165 USPSA major floor. From a 25-yard zero the bullet drops 1.1 inches at 50 yards and 8.4 inches at 100.
It sits in the middle of the standard-speed 158s. Sellier & Bellot 158-grain soft point is 13 fps faster with 12 ft-lbs more, and Federal American Eagle 158-grain JSP is 10 fps slower. Fiocchi Defense Dynamics 158-grain JHP, the other hollow point in the set, is 30 fps slower and 26 ft-lbs behind. PMC Bronze 158-grain JSP is in a different speed class: 221 fps faster, 211 ft-lbs more, and about 33 percent more recoil energy in the same revolver. The three loads near 1,250 fps are close enough that the choice among them comes down to bullet construction.
