The JSP is a jacketed bullet with a lead tip, meant to expand more slowly than a hollow point. Power factor is 232, 67 points over the 165 USPSA major floor. On its own trajectory table it is 0.6 inch low at 50 yards and 5.9 inches low at 100 from a 25-yard zero.

Nothing else in this set runs near it. Federal American Eagle 158-grain JSP, the other jacketed soft point at this weight, is 231 fps slower and 220 ft-lbs behind, and the PMC produces about 35 percent more recoil energy in the same revolver. Ammo Inc Signature 158-grain JHP is 221 fps slower. The only load here that approaches its speed is Remington UMC 125-grain JSP at 1,450 fps, 21 fps slower, and the PMC still produces about 64 percent more recoil energy than it because of the heavier bullet.

Buy it for hunting with a .357 revolver or carbine when the most muzzle energy a 158 can deliver is the point, and expect the recoil that comes with it. Anyone who wants practice ammunition that feels like the ordinary 158s should buy Remington Performance WheelGun 158-grain LSWC instead: 1,235 fps, 535 ft-lbs, and about 26 percent less recoil energy in the same revolver. Winchester 110-grain JHP goes further still, at about 61 percent less recoil and 349 ft-lbs less.
