About This Suppressor
The Dead Air Nomax 33 is a titanium rifle suppressor for .33-calibre magnum rifles. It has an MSRP of $1,299. Dead Air rates it for .33XC and weighs the body at 12.9 ounces, or 15.4 ounces with the Xemax adapter fitted.
It mounts on the Xemax brake and adapter, which doubles as a muzzle brake and stays on the rifle when the can comes off. It is also Dead Air HUB compatible, so other HUB mounts fit the rear threads in its place. Dead Air does not rate it for full-auto fire, and asks for an 18-inch barrel with .338 Lapua.
If you're cross-shopping, the YHM Bad Larry has an MSRP of $979.95, is stainless and Cobalt 6 at 17 ounces, and is rated for .338 Lapua Magnum. The SureFire SOCOM338-Ti has an MSRP of $2,499 and is 9.9 inches and 22 ounces of titanium alloy. Of the three, the Nomax 33 is the lightest.
Strengths & Limitations
Pros
- Grade 5 titanium throughout.
- HUB compatible, so the mount is not tied to the Xemax brake.
Cons
- Not full-auto rated, so it stays a precision and hunting can.
- The barrel-length requirement in .338 Lapua rules out short magnum rifles.
Where to Buy
Online dealers ship to a licensed dealer (FFL) near you, where you fill out the background-check form. Some still process a Form 4 by default; ask if you want it registered.
