Remington markets this 40-grain pointed soft point for small game. It sells the load in its Magnum Rimfire line. A pointed soft point is a jacketed hunting bullet with lead exposed at a pointed nose. It is rated at a G1 BC of .113 and leaves the muzzle at 1,910 fps. At 100 yards it still carries 159 ft-lbs of energy.
Compared with CCI's Gamepoint 40-grain JSP, the Remington starts 35 fps faster, but the Gamepoint is 47 fps faster by 100 yards. At 150 yards, a steady 10 mph wind blowing across the range pushes the Remington about 13 inches sideways and the Gamepoint about 11.
