Fiocchi markets its Field Dynamics 40-grain load for small game and target shooting. The bullet is a jacketed soft point, which leaves lead exposed at the nose of a jacketed bullet, the usual construction for a hunting load. It is rated at a G1 BC of .126 and leaves the muzzle at 1,910 fps, and at 100 yards it still carries 171 ft-lbs of energy.
Compared with CCI's Gamepoint 40-grain JSP, the Fiocchi starts 35 fps faster, but the two are level by 100 yards. At 150 yards, a steady 10 mph wind blowing across the range pushes the Fiocchi about 12 inches sideways and the Gamepoint about 11. Compared with Remington's 40-grain pointed soft point, which starts at the same 1,910 fps, the Fiocchi pulls ahead with distance: the same wind pushes the Remington about 13 inches at 150 yards. Zeroed at 100 yards, the Remington drops about 6 inches there and the Fiocchi about 5.
