Compared with Federal's Power-Shok 150-grain, another plain soft point, the Power-Point is almost a twin. The Power-Shok starts 20 fps faster, and the two kick the same in the same rifle. Compared with Norma's Whitetail 150-grain PSP, the Power-Point starts 72 fps faster and carries 147 more ft-lbs at the muzzle. The Norma kicks about 3 percent less in the same rifle.

Buy the Power-Point if you want a plain soft point for whitetail and big game, the job Winchester gives it. Pick the Power-Shok if you would rather shoot Federal's version of the same idea; Federal markets it for a "wide variety of medium and big game." Pick the Norma Whitetail if a little less recoil matters more to you than speed. Pick Remington's Core-Lokt Tipped 150-grain if you want a polymer-tipped bullet; Remington markets it for big game, and it starts 40 fps faster. If you hunt where lead-free bullets are required, Hornady's Outfitter 150-grain CX is a polymer-tipped copper alloy bullet with no lead core, built for areas "requiring nontraditional bullets."
