Brass Case • Hammer Custom
Solved from this product's advertised 3100 fps, 124gr bullet and G1 BC 0.478, with the sight 1.5" over the bore at standard conditions. Compare every zero for 6.5 PRC.
How to read it: filled circles are the near and far zero, where the bullet's path crosses the line of sight;the triangle is the peak (max ordinate). The shaded band is the 8" vital zone, ±4" either side of the line of sight. The dashed line marks the edge of the hold-dead-on window. The chart is zoomed to where the zero matters; the tables below run to 500 yards.

Product Overview
Weatherby's Select Plus 124-grain Hammer Custom is a copper 6.5 PRC load, and Weatherby names no game class for it. The Hammer Custom bullet is solid copper with a hollow nose and no lead core. It leaves the muzzle at 3,100 fps with 2,646 ft-lbs, the fastest start in the caliber, and has a G1 BC of .478.
Zeroed at 100 yards, it drops 10.1 inches at 300 and 23.0 inches at 400, the least of any 6.5 PRC load, with 1,507 ft-lbs left.
If you're cross-shopping, Federal's Terminal Ascent 130-grain is the lead-core bullet nearest it on weight, on a higher G1 BC of .532, and from a 100-yard zero it drops 24.2 inches at 400. Barnes' VOR-TX Long Range 127-grain LRX is the nearest copper bullet on weight and from that zero drops 24.9 inches at 400.
- No lead in the bullet, so it is legal where lead ammunition is restricted
- Carries 1,745 ft-lbs at 300 yards, 83 more than Barnes' VOR-TX Long Range 127-grain LRX
- About 6 percent less estimated recoil than Federal's Terminal Ascent 130-grain
- At 124 grains it sits near the light end of the caliber, where Federal's Fusion 140-grain is the heavy choice
- Federal's Terminal Ascent 130-grain holds its speed better at a similar weight
