Winchester markets its Ballistic Silvertip 150-grain for big game. The Ballistic Silvertip is a polymer-tipped hunting bullet with a boat-tail base, and this load comes in nickel-plated brass cases. It is rated at a G1 BC of .232 and leaves the muzzle at 2,390 fps. At 200 yards it still carries 990 ft-lbs of energy.
Compared with Winchester's Deer Season XP 150-grain, the other polymer-tipped Winchester load at this weight, the Ballistic Silvertip holds up a little better once shots stretch past 200 yards. At 300 yards, a steady 10 mph wind blowing across the line of fire pushes the Ballistic Silvertip about 19 inches sideways and the Deer Season XP about 21. Compared with Federal's Power-Shok 150-grain, a plain soft point, the gap is just as small: zeroed at 100 yards, the Ballistic Silvertip drops about 26 inches at 300 and the Power-Shok about 27.
