Remington markets its Premier Match 90-grain MatchKing for long-range and target shooting. It carries the 90-grain MatchKing, an open-tip match bullet, rated at a G1 BC of .563, and leaves the muzzle at 2,700 fps. The trade is plain: it starts slower than the lighter match loads and drifts less in the wind.

Compared with Federal's 90-grain Sierra MatchKing, the Remington is an even swap. Both start at 2,700 fps with the same bullet weight and G1 BC, and at 500 yards a steady 10 mph wind blowing across the range pushes each about 17 inches sideways. Compared with Federal's Gold Medal 80.5-grain Berger, the Remington starts 225 fps slower but drifts less: the same wind pushes the Berger about 20 inches at 500 yards. The Berger kicks about 13 percent less in the same rifle.

Buy the Remington if you shoot at 300 to 500 yards and wind is your main problem. The Federal MatchKing performs the same, so either will do. Pick the Berger for a faster start and lighter recoil. Pick Hornady's 88-grain ELD Match if you want a polymer-tipped match bullet at nearly the same weight; it kicks about 5 percent less. Hunters should look at Federal's Fusion 90-grain instead, a bonded soft point that Federal markets for big game, which leaves the muzzle at the same 2,700 fps.
