Product Overview
Tula's 55-grain FMJ is steel-cased ammunition for plinking and range practice, for shooters who have no plans to reload their empties. It carries a 55-grain full metal jacket bullet, the plain jacketed bullet most range ammunition uses, and leaves the muzzle at 3,241 fps. The steel case cannot be reloaded, it sticks to a magnet, and some indoor ranges do not allow it, so check your range's rules first.
Compared with Wolf WPA 55-grain, the other steel-cased option, the Tula is a twin at the muzzle: both leave at 3,241 fps, and both kick the same in the same rifle, so either can stand in for the other. Compared with PMC Bronze 55-grain, a brass-cased full metal jacket boat tail load, the Tula starts 41 fps faster and kicks about 1 percent harder in the same rifle. The PMC's brass case can be reloaded, and ranges that turn steel away will take it.
Buy the Tula for plinking and drills at a range that allows steel cases. Pick Remington UMC 55-grain MC or PMC Bronze 55-grain if your range bans steel or you reload; the UMC leaves the muzzle at 3,240 fps, the same speed for any practical purpose. Pick Hornady Black 62-grain if you want a heavier bullet and don't mind more recoil: it leaves the muzzle 141 fps slower and kicks about 20 percent harder in the same rifle.
