Power factor is 122, which clears the IDPA stock-revolver floor of 105 by 17 and the 120 USPSA revolver-minor floor by about 2, so it makes revolver minor with almost no margin. From a 25-yard zero it drops 3.3 inches at 50 yards and 21.7 inches at 100, and it holds speed well: 746 fps at 50 and 724 fps at 100, only 46 fps under the muzzle figure.

Among the lead loads it sits in the middle. Remington UMC 158-grain LRN is 15 fps and 8 ft-lbs behind with about 3 percent less recoil energy in the same revolver, and by 100 yards the Federal is 25 fps faster and 1.2 inches flatter. Magtech 158-grain LRN shares the Remington's 755 fps and power factor of 119. Black Hills Cowboy 158-grain CNL is 30 fps faster at 800 fps with about 6 percent more recoil energy. HSM Cowboy Action 158-grain is hotter at 840 fps and 248 ft-lbs, about 15 percent more recoil energy and 3.3 inches flatter at 100 yards. Sellier & Bellot 158-grain LRN is the outlier at 997 fps and 349 ft-lbs, 227 fps faster with about 52 percent more recoil energy.

Buy it for general revolver practice with the traditional 158-grain feel at standard pressure, and pick it over Remington UMC or Magtech if you need to reach the 120 USPSA revolver floor without stepping up in recoil. Some indoor ranges restrict exposed lead, and every load in this group is bare lead. If you carry a 158-grain hollow point, Hornady's 158-grain XTP JHP runs 30 fps faster with about 6 percent more recoil energy in the same revolver.
