From a 25-yard zero it drops 3.5 inches at 50 yards and 22.9 inches at 100, arriving at 726 fps with 185 ft-lbs and then 699 fps with 172 ft-lbs. It is tied with Magtech for the mildest 158-grain lead load on this page.

Magtech 158-grain LRN is its twin on paper: the same 755 fps, 200 ft-lbs and recoil, with drop within 0.2 inch at 100 yards. Federal American Eagle 158-grain LRN is 15 fps and 8 ft-lbs ahead with about 3 percent more recoil energy in the same revolver, and it is 25 fps faster at 100 yards. Black Hills Cowboy 158-grain CNL adds 45 fps and 25 ft-lbs for about 9 percent more recoil. HSM Cowboy Action 158-grain is the hot cowboy load at 840 fps and 248 ft-lbs, about 18 percent more recoil and 4.5 inches flatter at 100 yards. Sellier & Bellot 158-grain LRN, at 997 fps and 349 ft-lbs, produces about 57 percent more recoil energy than the Remington.

Buy this for high-volume revolver practice and for new shooters, since nothing in the 158-grain lead group recoils less, and for older standard-pressure revolvers that should never see +P. If you shoot USPSA revolver, it misses the 120 floor; Black Hills Cowboy CNL makes it at 126, and HSM Cowboy Action at 133 gives real margin. If you want practice that feels like a carry load, or a jacketed bullet for ranges that restrict lead, Speer Lawman +P 158-grain TMJ produces about 33 percent more recoil energy in the same revolver and needs a revolver rated for +P.
