Hornady's Critical Defense 60-grain FTX is a polymer-tipped hollow point .32 ACP load made for personal protection. The FTX carries a soft polymer plug in its nose cavity, which Hornady says keeps the cavity clear so the bullet still opens. It leaves the muzzle at 1,000 fps with 133 ft-lbs.
Zeroed at 25 yards it is 2.0 inches low at 50, where it holds 884 fps with 104 ft-lbs. Estimated recoil in a compact pistol is 0.9 ft-lbs, about 7 percent over Speer Gold Dot 60-grain.
