Product Overview

Buffalo Bore rates this load +P: a 60-grain Barnes TAC-XP, a solid copper hollow point with no lead core, leaves the muzzle at 1,150 fps with 176 ft-lbs. That is 150 fps and 43 ft-lbs more than the next-fastest loads in the set, Hornady Critical Defense 60 and Hornady Custom 60 XTP, or about 32 percent more muzzle energy. Check that your pistol is rated for +P before carrying it. From a 25-yard zero the bullet is 1.4 inches low at 50 yards and 10.9 inches low at 100, still a close-range pistol load. Recoil energy in the same pistol is about 26 percent more than the Hornady loads.

Every standard-pressure load in the set sits between 960 and 1,000 fps and 123 and 133 ft-lbs. The TAC-XP is 170 fps and 48 ft-lbs over PMC Bronze 60-grain JHP, 180 fps and 51 ft-lbs over Silvertip 60, and 190 fps and 53 ft-lbs over Speer Gold Dot 60. The recoil gap is as wide: about 31 percent more recoil energy than the PMC, 34 percent more than the Silvertip and 36 percent more than the Gold Dot in the same pistol.

This is the load for a shooter with a +P-rated .32 pistol who wants the most energy the cartridge offers here and will take the extra recoil. Anyone with an older or unrated pistol, or who wants the lightest recoil, should choose a standard-pressure load; Speer Gold Dot 60 at 960 fps has the least recoil energy in the set. For practice, PMC Bronze 71-grain FMJ at 900 fps produces about 8 percent less recoil energy than the TAC-XP in the same pistol, so even ball ammo kicks less than this load.
