Product Overview
At 1,008 fps, Armscor's 180-grain full metal jacket is the slowest 10mm Auto ball load on this site. Muzzle energy is 406 ft-lbs and the power factor is 181, which still clears the 165 USPSA major floor by 16 points. Sighted at 25 yards it prints 1.8 inches low at 50 yards and 12.5 inches low at 100. It leaves the muzzle below the 1,125 fps speed of sound, so it is subsonic from the start. In the same pistol it produces about 20 percent less recoil energy than Remington UMC, the least of any 180-grain ball load here.
The spread among 180-grain ball loads is wide, and this one anchors the bottom. Winchester USA is the next step up at 1,080 fps, 72 fps faster. Remington UMC at 1,150 fps is 142 fps faster and carries 122 ft-lbs more at the muzzle. Magtech at 1,230 fps is 222 fps ahead and produces about 40 percent more recoil energy in the same pistol. Power factors run from 181 here to 221 for the Magtech, so all four make major, but this one clears it by the thinnest margin.
This is the load for a shooter new to 10mm, for live-fire work on trigger control, or for a long session where the lowest recoil energy in the group adds up. It is not a stand-in for a full-power carry load. If your carry ammunition is the Remington Golden Saber 180-grain BJHP, that load is listed at 1,150 fps and 529 ft-lbs, 123 ft-lbs above this one, and Remington UMC at the same 1,150 fps is the honest practice match for it. Shooters who want full-power feel should go straight to Magtech at 1,230 fps and 605 ft-lbs.
- Leaves the muzzle at 1,008 fps, under the 1,125 fps speed of sound, so it is a subsonic load for suppressor use without a dedicated subsonic loading
- Makes USPSA major at a power factor of 181 while producing the lowest recoil energy of the 10mm Auto loads compared, about 11 percent under Winchester USA in the same pistol
- Drops only 1.8 inches at 50 yards from a 25-yard zero, so the lower velocity does not change the hold at pistol distances
- 406 ft-lbs at the muzzle is 199 ft-lbs under Magtech and 60 under Winchester USA, so it will not tell you how a full-power 10mm feels
- The margin over major is thin: a chronograph reading about 90 fps under the listed velocity, at 917 fps, would put it below the 165 floor
- Runs 142 fps slower than the Remington Golden Saber 180-grain carry load, so a shooter training for that load is practicing with the wrong recoil
