About This Suppressor
The Dead Air Wolfman is a modular stainless steel multi-calibre suppressor for 9mm pistols, subguns and rifles. It has an MSRP of $899. Dead Air rates it to 2,000 ft-lb across 9mm, 5.56, 300 Blackout, .338 ARC, 7.62x39, 350 Legend and .357 Magnum, with no barrel-length restriction.
A 1/2-28 direct thread mount comes with it, along with a wipe-compatible front cap and the tool for it, so a threaded 9mm barrel is covered as delivered. Dead Air's P-Series mounts fit it for other hosts. Without a mount it is 7.5 inches and 14.4 ounces long or 5.13 inches and 9.8 ounces short, and the body is fully welded 17-4 PH stainless steel in Cerakote.
If you're cross-shopping, the SilencerCo Omega 9K has an MSRP of $749 and is shorter at 4.54 inches, but its rating stops at 9mm and 300 Blackout. The Dead Air Ghost 45M has an MSRP of $949 and opens the bore to .45 ACP, though its piston is not in the box. The Wolfman is the one of the three with a 5.56 rating.
Strengths & Limitations
Pros
- A direct thread mount and a front cap are in the box, so a threaded host needs nothing more.
- A fully welded body, so there is no baffle stack to take out and put back in order.
- Two lengths from one can, so a subgun build and a rifle build come from one purchase.
Cons
- P-Series mounts for other hosts are separate purchases.
- The energy ceiling keeps the magnum rifle cartridges out, where the big-bore cans on this list take them.
Where to Buy
Online dealers ship to a licensed dealer (FFL) near you, where you fill out the background-check form. Some still process a Form 4 by default; ask if you want it registered.
