Trajectory by Zero Distance

Solved from this product's advertised 1135 fps, 40gr bullet and G1 BC 0.130, with the sight 1.5" over the bore at standard conditions. Compare every zero for .22LR, or read .22 LR: 50-Yard vs 100-Yard Zero.

Loading...

How to read it: filled circles are the near and far zero, where the bullet's path crosses the line of sight;the triangle is the peak (max ordinate). The shaded band is the 4" vital zone, ±2" either side of the line of sight. Dashed line: where the bullet goes subsonic. The dashed line marks the edge of the hold-dead-on window. The chart is zoomed to where the zero matters; the tables below run to 200 yards.

Product Overview

Armscor's .22 LR 40-grain Standard Velocity is a solid point load for small game and target shooting. Armscor no longer makes it. It leaves the muzzle at 1,135 fps with 112 ft-lbs.

Standard velocity puts it 120 fps behind Aguila's .22 LR Super Extra High Velocity 40-grain SP at the muzzle and 145 fps behind the lighter Aguila Super Extra HV 38-grain HP. It also carries less muzzle energy than either high velocity load.

If you're cross-shopping, Aguila's Super Extra 40-grain Standard Velocity SP is the other standard velocity solid point at this weight, 5 fps slower at the muzzle. Aguila's Super Extra HV 38-grain HP is the hollow point of the loads compared, which Aguila markets for small game and varmints as well as targets.

Strengths
  • Standard velocity, so it starts only just past the speed of sound where the high velocity loads are well clear of it
  • A 40-grain solid point, the heavier of the two bullet weights compared
  • Within 1 ft-lb of Aguila's Super Extra 40-grain Standard Velocity SP at the muzzle, the other standard velocity load at this weight
Limitations
  • 28 ft-lbs behind Aguila's .22 LR Super Extra High Velocity 40-grain SP at the muzzle
  • Still supersonic at the muzzle, so a suppressor cannot take the crack out of it
