Sierra markets its Tipped GameKing bullet for big game hunting, and the GameChanger 150-grain is loaded with it. The Tipped GameKing is a polymer-tipped hunting bullet with a lead core. This load leaves the muzzle at 3,000 fps with 2,997 ft-lbs of energy. It gives up a little speed and in return kicks a little less.
Compared with Remington's Core-Lokt Tipped 150-grain, another polymer-tipped 150, the GameChanger starts 130 fps slower and carries 266 fewer ft-lbs at the muzzle. In return it kicks about 5 percent less in the same rifle. Compared with Federal's Fusion 150-grain, a bonded soft point, the GameChanger starts 50 fps slower and kicks about 2 percent less in the same rifle.
Buy the GameChanger if you want Sierra's polymer-tipped bullet and prefer a little less recoil to a little more speed. Pick the Core-Lokt Tipped if speed matters more to you than recoil; Remington markets it for big game. Pick the Fusion if you prefer a bonded soft point; Federal says it is "specifically built for deer hunting."
