Sellier & Bellot 140-grain SP is a plain soft point 7mm Remington Magnum load made for hunting. Nothing covers the nose, which is bare lead over a copper-jacketed core. It leaves the muzzle at 3,117 fps with 3,020 ft-lbs and has the lowest G1 BC in the caliber at .231.
Zeroed at 200 yards, it drops 8.1 inches at 300 yards and 25.1 inches at 400 yards, arriving with 870 ft-lbs. From a 100-yard zero the drop at 400 yards is 31.7 inches. Recoil sits with the rest of the caliber's 140-grain loads.
If you're cross-shopping, Barnes' VOR-TX 140-grain TTSX is a copper bullet on a G1 BC of .412 and from a 200-yard zero drops 18.6 inches at 400 yards. Federal's Vital-Shok 140-grain Trophy Bonded Tip bonds its core and has a G1 BC of .430.
