The Scenar is Lapua's match hollow point with a boat tail, and its 123-grain weight is the same one Hornady and Nosler chose for their 6.5 Grendel match loads. Alexander Arms loads it to 2,480 fps at the muzzle, a moderate speed that sits between those two makers' match loads.

Compared with Hornady's 123-grain ELD Match, the Scenar load leaves the muzzle 100 fps slower, 2,480 fps against 2,580. That slower start brings a lighter kick: about 4 percent less than the ELD Match in the same rifle. The ELD Match also carries a different kind of bullet, Hornady's polymer-tipped ELD Match, where the Scenar has an open hollow point. Compared with Nosler's Match Grade 123, which carries Nosler's Custom Competition hollow point, the Scenar load starts 80 fps faster and kicks a little harder in the same rifle.

Buy the Scenar load if you want Alexander Arms' target load with a Lapua bullet and a kick lighter than Hornady's 123-grain ELD Match. Pick the ELD Match if you want Hornady's polymer-tipped bullet and the faster start. Pick Nosler's Match Grade 123 if you want an even softer kick and don't need the extra speed. For practice, Hornady's Frontier 123-grain FMJ is a full metal jacket load that leaves the muzzle 100 fps faster than the Scenar load.
