Federal's American Eagle 250-grain SP suits a shooter who wants a lead-core soft point in the .338 Lapua that starts fast and kicks less than the 270- to 300-grain loads. A soft point is a jacketed bullet with a lead core and lead showing at the tip. This one leaves the muzzle at 2,875 fps with 4,588 ft-lbs of energy.
Compared with Prvi Partizan's 240-grain Solid Copper, the American Eagle starts 75 fps slower and carries 53 fewer ft-lbs at the muzzle, with a bullet 10 grains heavier.
